Dvorak Black style (3.6)

Postby Idle Muse on Sun May 11, 2008 7:35 am

Dvorak is a great little meta-cardgame that can be adapted to whatever you want. Traditionally played on blank white cards, I decided to create my own style for it. This zip contains that style, as well as the fonts it uses. The style also has Times New Roman and Arial as options, for the more classic look.

Example card:

In case anyone doesn't like white on black, both the background colour and the text colour are changeable.

Other features:
  • Copyright and Gamecode text if Extended Card Info is selected (on the set screen)
  • "Value" field to the right of title if needed

I don't expect this to get as much feedback as a magic template, so I'm just gonna say download it and have fun playing Dvorak (rules). Its a tiny download (no graphics), so even if you don't play dvorak its a good download; it can be used as a basis for developing your own card games, or your own templates.

Just download, and unzip into your Magic Set Editor data folder to use. Move the fonts to your system fonts directory.
Please ensure you have the dvorak game file as well; found elsewhere in this forum.

Well, I've now added this to my version of MSE. I only made three of the four changes to the game file that you listed. I did do the card list font color change, subtype is now editable, and I added the extended info field to the set tab. The values to the right thing didn't make any sense to me. I didn't just use your game file because it was Hobo's, which caused errors for me, and still had the keyword system in (which was also a source of errors).

If those changes weren't enough, please tell me what other changes need made, just please don't simply drop a game file for me to use.

Edit: Also, linked to on the MSE Download page.

OK, could you just PM me, or post here, the current 'official' game file, because some of my stuff was clearly taken from Hobo's version that I had.

To be honest, the Extended Card Info was only used by my template because it was already there... Feel free to remove it if you want, and I'll update the style accordingly.

I can post the file here; shouldn't break anything. This is what I've got. I don't mind expanding upon it to add more styles, so Extended Info is fine with me, since its useful. Just lemme know if there's anything else that needs done and is missing.

The only thing that I 'miss' from the Hobo's version is the fact that it auto-bolded "Action: " which is a useful thing. Any chance you can script that in? There already is a filter function for the text, (to do ~), it just requires adding a bit onto that. If you can do that then i'll update the zip above. Thanks!

OK... seems simple, but there is a bug. Now, whenever you trigger the action, it replaces "Action:" with "<b-auto>Action:</b-auto>". Unfortunately, the caret is placed before the closing tag, so any more text you type is bolded as well. One can get around this behavior, by typing the rest of the ability first, but it would be nice to be able to type "Action: Draw a card" and get "<b-auto>Action:</b-auto> Draw a card" rather than "<b-auto>Action: Draw a card</b-auto>"

I hope you have some idea for fixing it, because I don't?

Sorry to keep bugging you with this though.

Ninja Edit: Had a brainwave. In the game file, replace the replace text with "<atom><b-auto>&</b-auto></atom>", and this rather neatly solves the problem.

EDIT: This attachment is the latest game file, please download it and overwrite your old one.

Updated for MSE 0.3.6, including all the font options this time, still not too large a file.
