FPM's Custom Magic: the Gathering Templates (version 0.3.8)

Postby Pichoro on Thu Oct 19, 2006 9:03 am

These are the MSE2 version of FirePenguinMaster's Custom Magic: the Gathering Templates, as seen on mtgsalvation.com. These templates were originally made by FPM, and converted to this format through hard work by the members of the MSE2 forums, especially myself, artfreakwiu, bunnierein, and roatheeternal.

The tokens can double as textless spells, or as large art spells. If you type in the textbox area, a textbox will automatically pop-up behind it.

In the style tab, there are a number of options. Among them, are the ability to switch between Matrix and MatrixBoldSmallCaps for the card's name font. There is also an option to switch between the old light green and the new dark green (which also changes the green lands).

There are now token, split, flip, promo, and planeswalker templates. All of these templates require the prior installation of the 0.3.6 version of the regular FPM Magic template.

The beveled mana font can be download separately in the Mana Font thread.

These templates now utilize optional foil gradients - get some here.

Finally, some sample images to show off the newest features.

Well, I finally got tired of all the bugs in the old codebase I was using for this set, and downloaded the newset one.

And I must say, aside from obvious annoyances that have been discussed previously, it is a very nice implementation, especially the optional textboxes on tokens thing which was fairly annoying before.

Good work!

Thank you. I still don't consider it done. Things to add in the future include the updated green frame, artfreakwiu's image masks, BunnieRein's keyword system, and it looks like now, perhaps a purple and another color of frame. Which bothers me in a way, but oh well. The only other thing I'd like is if I or someone else could edit the MatrixBoldSmallCaps font to include the missing chars and include it in the release. Course, that may be a no-no due to copyright laws.

Edit: I guess I'll go ahead and say I've begun the process of modifying my version to use purple. The only thing holding me up from adding it completely (besides lack of images) is not knowing where it would be in the color pie. That is, what two colors it should fall between, which doesn't seem important, but has to be included in a very specific line of script in the game file that determines the automatic mana sorting, as well as coming into play when making all the hybrids work.

I have made a few fixes to the placements of the set symbol and the font size on the type line. The set symbol is definitely better now, as it now fits inside the oval it is meant to, but changing the size of the typeline font is probably debatable

Code: Select all
Change the font size for the type field from 10 to 12

Code: Select all
rarity:
      left: 75
      top : 302
      width: 22
      height: 22

Good luck with implementing all of FPM's new stuff.

Flip Templates anyone?
Image

As with the MTG flip templates, there are no land flips, but there are watermarks, all the blends, etc. of the standard FPM templates, so enjoy!

I cannot find Purple card borders on my MSE2. I just downloaded the templates and I don't know if they are even supposed to be there. Can I get some help, please?

For the time being, purple and silver are both gone. Sorry.
