Magic Full Text Template (0.3.6b)

Postby Idle Muse on Sat Jul 07, 2007 12:16 pm

This is a template designed by me and implemented by Pichoro (code) and I (graphics).

This is only a beta release, as none of the land frames and none of the alternate artifacts frames are done. It won't crash; the regular 8th ed frames are there as placeholders, but this obviously isn't ideal.

Although the frames look kinda ugly on their empty self, they look fine when filled with text. So here are some examples:

Example Black
Example Green
Example Red
Example Blue

v2.05 additions:
- Added watermarks (Pichoro)
- Added colourless land frame
- Added multicolour blend mask

v2.06 additions:
- Intelligent field condensation
- Watermarks fixed

v2.07 (by Pich) additions:
- More 'smart field' upgrades
- Position hint

v3.1
- All card frames
- updated for MSE 0.3.6
- Selectable symbol font for casting cost
- Selectable symbol font for text box

Heh... Guess I forgot to make watermarks work. Whoops. Try this style file instead.

I constantly get this error when I try to open this style:

"Unsupported field type: choice"

I don't know if it's just the new style file that Pichoro put (I only used the new style file), but yeah, somthing isn't right.

The same link as before now has another new version, with AlexKOJ's error fixed.

Here's the working style file with the type and rarity better aligned. Due to Lordpenguin's editing job (which he already explained), it doesn't line up right on black cards.

Gosh, 4 or so updates since I checked this thread yesterday.
I had edited the original download style a tiny bit to get the type line aligned (total 3 pixels I think), but I figure Pichoro worked from his own copy when adding in watermark support. AlexKOJs edit is fine though: I will update the first post.

Edit: Seeing as how the watermark was directly behind the textfield, it was nigh-on impossible to actually change. I fiddled with it a bit, and the current version up top has the watermark changeable by clicking in the middle area, and the text by clicking at the very top or bottom of the text field. This isn't ideal, and as such any ideas would be helpful.

Okay. At the same link I've been using to post style files (above), I've put up another new one.

I made it using the latest one you've put in the download for the template.

Changes I've made:
Added new smart name and casting cost fields. They change sizes and scale according to how long they each are.
I've changed the watermark. Now, to access it, you click on the left side of the text box; you'll find a little strip there that you can use to grab the watermark.

The watermarks are a little off center, but at least they work.

Yes, the watermarks are a real pain. Did anyone realize the Dimir watermark is naturally off-center (too far to the right)? I didn't until I was playing with this template. I originally had the watermark sticking out of both sides, but the Dimir was so big it went off of the textbox and into the card's actual frame. So I had to make a decision about what I was going to post.

I would like to offer an update to this template; it is for 0.3.5, and LordPenguin is welcome to utilize it however he desires.

I agree. I actually like having access to this template.

As for whether it crashes or not, I must agree with your assessment elsewhere; no crashing. But that is with my update, not your original. I no longer have your original. Is it acceptable if I just update your download to match mine, then move this into the 0.3.5 forum?

Here are the additional frames (finally!) that I didn't make for the first release of this template. They include the coloured land frames, the multicolour land frame, and the two nonstandard artifact frames. As with before, there is no guarantee of quality, I'm not a graphics genius, but they are better than nothing.

The first post has been updated with this upgrade.

The latest version of the program is 0.3.5b... yet it says that you've made this with or that I require 0.3.6. I can't find that anywhere, and seems like 0.3.5b is the latest. The program crashes each time I try to select this template, which is all I really want since I'm using Magic Set Editor for creating D&D 4e at-will, encounter and daily power quick-reference cards.

Do I have to wait for MSE v0.3.6 to be released? How are others getting this to work?
