For some reason I cannot get this to work. Does anyone know of another template I can find of the Planeswalkers?

You're looking at the one and only Planeswalker template for MSE.

Have you updated your program to version 0.3.5? You MUST update to 0.3.5 to use Planeswalkers (and futureshifts). Other templates may also require you to update. Besides that, you should always update whenever a new version is available.
