Modern Planeswalkers w/ Four Abilities (0.3.8)

Postby Pichoro on Fri Oct 10, 2008 3:00 pm

This thread now houses two renditions of the modern planeswalkers with four abilities: the official Wizards of the Coast version, and the one originally made for Jrzman featuring a smaller textbox (now renamed Modern Planeswalker w/ 4 Abilities (Scrunched)).

The official version will overwrite the old 4-Abilities Walker template. Both include an absolutely required game file update.

If you want to use the export templates included, you MUST use the included version of them.

The scrunched template requires the prior installation of regular Modern Planeswalkers as well; it uses image from that template to make for a very small download.

These templates now utilize optional foil gradients - get some here.

Thanks go to artfreakwiu for the new frames - as usual, he's way fast about replicating whatever WotC prints. :)

This has been updated to include the new official walkers w/ four abilities template, as seen in Worldwake.

The old version of the template has been re-released under a new name, and is also included in the first post.

Just as a thought, would it not be possible to include the old version as a styling choice on this one? In the same way all the token variants are under one template, it just makes sense to do the same here.

While that's a nice thought, it can't be done until paragraph height is made scriptable. This is the very same issue preventing the creation of a walker-to-nonwalker flip template (or vice versa, however you wish to look at it).

What font does this template use?
I would like to add the symbols: ‡ (Alt 0135) and § (Alt 21) - but the font does not seem to support them.

Theoretically, I could alter three of the Mana symbols (I'm designing a custom game so the Mana symbols are not needed) and use those to display the three symbols I need, but the Type Field (Middle) does not support the input of Mana symbols.

Matrix for the name line and type line.
MPlantin and MPlantin-Italic for the rules text, loyalty costs, artist, and copyright.
MatrixBoldSmallCaps for the starting loyalty.

Also: Please be aware that the images utilized in these templates are copyright Wizards of the Coast LLC. It is illegal to to use these images in a custom card game. If you do so and try to sell your game, there is an excellent chance that something bad will happen to you, and in turn, you will get MSE in trouble, and then nobody will be able to enjoy the program, even for making cards for existing games. Please do not do that. If you wish to make a custom card game to sell, you should make a custom template, rather than use an existing one.

Fear not - I will be removing absolutely everything Magic related from any templates that I use with the exception of the template design. Also, I do not plan on making any money from my CCG.

Even the template design is copyright of somebody. They are images, and included in my original statement.

Of course. The game I am designing is only going to be played by me and a very small group of friends. Believe me, if I had the time to develop a custom template I would.
