The Foil and Overlay Thread (0.3.8)

This is a thread that will now house all of the new custom overlays available. Formerly, these were all in the Magic-New-Extra thread, but I'm going to move them out of there to here, since they'll be becoming available in more templates.

If you have a custom overlay, feel free to share it here for others to enjoy.

Please note that unless you download a template here, in this forum, and it specifically says it uses foiling, then it doesn't. No template that comes from the actual 0.3.8 MSE installer will support foiling.

Regular Modern Magic is not available with foiling.

I have installed the exe files... but now how do I make a card foil?

You must have a copy of the style that supports foiling. A large number of them in this forum do. You can tell because they say so in the first post. Then, once you have styles that use foils and foil layers, you make a card in a style that supports foils, go to the styling tab, and look for the "overlay" styling option.

Ok, I have created a card with the "Modern Style" styling option... the default one, that i assume should support the foil overlay... then I went back to the styling tab, but I couldn't find the "Overlay" style.
Did I miss any step?

Yes, as I said foiling is only in templates that you download here, in this forum. No template that comes with MSE has foiling yet, because foiling is newer than the last version of MSE. So, no, actually, regular old modern magic doesn't support foiling yet.

Very well, I got it. No foil Modern Style cards until (maybe) next update.
I'm updating the downloaded templates that support the foil overlay to make the change effective.

Heya i'm new here but not to mse. Got a couple of foil overlay for you all not great but i like em! Hope you do too!
They only zips at the mo, would make them installers if i had any idea how! -edit that i can do installers now! sweet!

Also i've updated my style files for all the standard templates to include the foil overlay option. Could upload these for anyone wanting to get access before the next mse update!?! Let me know

Please don't upload updated source templates. It won't kill people to wait for the next update. And thanks for sharing your overlay layers.

Also, I uploaded a changed version of your polished stone foil - please, check your spelling or something. *sigh*

A foil I threw together. It approaches things a little differently making use of black areas instead of white or clear areas. PM me with any comments on it if you like, I'd appreciate the feedback as I intend to do more like it.
