Poker Templates (0.3.6)

Postby artfreakwiu on Sun Aug 05, 2007 6:12 am

The Most Wanted and Full Art Poker Templates are included, but the Most Wanted feature a new option - Any font you want! Check it out:
Image Image
As a default, each text area renders with Times New Roman, but on the Style tab you can choose new fonts for each individual area - all you need is the font name.
Try it out and let me know what you think. The script is really, really simple and could be thrown into any template for any game with very little effort, so for all those out there that want to have a custom font in their Magic cards, YGO, etc. here's an option, just check out the script.
Hope you enjoy!

Nice addition. I have a suggestion; let the font for 'joker' be changeable as well, or defaulted to the same as the title or number font. I realise that it's big change codewise, but feels like something that should be done now the numbers are font-selectable as well.

I run across with quite interesting and somewhat annoying dilemma - I'm working on severall full graphics decs, and image colors often mask out card identifiers - is there any simple way to change numbers to permanently white backgrounds? I know it makes cards bit less appealing, but it would be exellent way to do full image cards imho. I've already modified images. I've just started working on MSE, and already it's my favourite card creator, but this... oh code gurus, can anyone help? :)

Welcome. I'm going to assume that when you say "card identifiers", you actually mean the numbers and the suit symbols.

Those aren't program generated, so the template itself doesn't control the colors. They are images included in the template's symbol-font, so the program just loads those images up, whatever color they may be.

So, its actually mildly complicated to do what you're asking. I could do it quickly tonight though, and would be willing to, if you can wait about 12 hours.
I don't want to have a signature... :(

You are correct, I'm looking for white backgrounds for numbers - and, I'm more than happy to wait, if you can do this one :)

Wait, wait, wait. White BACKGROUNDS for numbers? You didn't say anything about that. That's more complicated, and involves additional fields. I thought you just wanted white numbers and suits.

Man, I haven't seen anyone comment about this template it a loooong time.

What I gather that you want is a white backing that would basically work as a backdrop behind the numbers and over the image on full art cards. Frankly, I think it would look ugly and with the way the template is currently scripted, allowing for any font to be used, it wouldn't allow for fonts of all sizes (wide fonts would fall outside the field, narrow would look tiny within a box.) I'd suggest an outline feature instead but I won't add it until I get a response from you.

@ Pich: The outline would be similar to what I did with the VS System Promo rarity. I'm going to be out of town until tomorrow evening, so I probably won't see Dr. Tux's response. If you see it first Pich, you've got my permission to have at it. Otherwise I'll take care of it when I get back in town.

Well, white ouline is all right too, like I mentioned I'm bit newbie when it comes to working with MSE - anything that would make black numbers to stand our bit more from darker backgrounds is very much okay in my books :)
