Dvorak (0.3.7)

Postby Pichoro on Mon Dec 24, 2007 11:21 pm

This is a template for the Dvorak game. It was created by Zaratustra, and updated to 0.3.7 by me.

A wiki devoted to Dvorak can be found here.

Installer files can be used by opening them with MSE 0.3.7. It is also possible to change the file extension from "mse-installer" to "zip", and extracting the file as a zip.

This template uses the MatrixBoldSmallCaps font.

This seems like a simple little game, probably what FLUXX is based on. Anyway the reason for this post is to offer a better version of this game file. Due to some fancy coding (well not really all that fancy; but I have to boast whenever I can) I have managed to pack four times the special features into a file half the size of the original. In my opinion this version also produces much nicer looking cards to.

Edit by Pichoro: Warning, errors present. Look here for more information.

How can I adjust the card sizes for this? I'm interested in using this card style as a base for making a set of DungeonTile cards [think Warhammer Quest random dungeon deck] using the D&D Dungeon Tiles as the image insert; however, when I print the cards, they come out at about 1" x 2" or so: far too small to be of any use to run a random dungeon [I can't even see what the image is to figure out which tile I should place]. :D

I know it's possible to open the style file with WordPad or similar and tinker with settings, but the card size appears the same as Vanguard or L5R, which is to say W 375 and H 523; however, while those cards look to be about 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" or so, the Dvorak cards are much, much smaller.

Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks.

To increase the print size, open the style file with Notepad. Not Wordpad; Notepad. Always always always Notepad. Near the top, you'll see "card dpi: 300". Decrease 300 to some other number; as you lower that number, print size goes up. When you half that number (to 150), print size should double (and match Magic). I'll probably lower the card dpi in future versions; I didn't realize how small it was printing.

Boya, you're fast.
I had noticed the card dpi setting and wasn't sure what it was so left it well enough alone. I'll try that and see if it works.

Thanks again.

Edit: OK, I just pulled up the program and made that adjustment and it works fine. That now prints 9 cards per 8" x 11" sheet.

Is there any way to remove or to adjust the number on the cards? The Dvorak cards all have a negative number below the image. If there is no way to adjust the number to a #/# style, could that section just be deleted entirely?

Thanks.

Zaratustra created the template to use the same numbering system as Yugioh. The number is not negative. That's a dash. Type something in the code box of the set tab. The number format is like this:

[set code]-[set language][number]

I'm not going to remove it; the style was not created by me, only renovated by me. I intend to edit it as little as possible.
