Babylon 5 CCG Template (0.3.7)

Postby Bass on Wed Mar 26, 2008 5:11 am

As far as I know, taking into accordance the limitations of MSE, the Babylon 5 template is completely finished.

The zip file below includes the template for the game.

Muchos thanks to Pichoro and Roa... THE ETERNAL!!!!! *lightning* for the much appreciated thanks. :)

There is a known error in this template; the image field does not fit inside of all of the frames correctly.

This template is up to date for 0.3.7. To use an installer file, open the installer using MSE 0.3.7. It is also possible to change the file extension from "mse-installer" to "zip" and extract the file as a zip. Fonts are included in the download, but must be installed separately.

Okay. I've downloaded this, and tagged and updated a version for myself for 0.3.6.

The only error for 0.3.5 that I located was that the Character, Location, and Nexus card types don't go to images in the template you have up there, causing a "white card" error. So, I added directions for them to default to Agenda. I'm guessing the real B5 didn't have those types of cards, but you added them to your version? If so, why not go ahead and include them in the actual version?

There is now a link to this template on the MSE Download page.

I am AMAZED at this installer.

One thing - there's no need for the keywords in the game file since it's not part of the original game - this is true even for the "B5actual" keywords. None of them are real.

The installer is incredible. Thanks so much for your support, Pichoro. It's really, really appreciated.

I may remove the keywords sometime, or you can and provide an update. Either one, makes no difference to me. You could even start a new thread, and we'll switch to that one. The reason is that then, if you wish to update your template, you can, and if I need to, it being your thread isn't gonna stop me.

I'm a little confused.

Firstly, I'm attaching the new game file (that's all that needs changing) but I'm unsure as to how to get it to work with this new installer feature (which is too awesome).

Secondly - I don't get why a new thread would be needed. A new thread would be identical to this one... :?

Ah, Bass. Sorry for the confusion. I was thinking I started this thread, not you. Nevermind. Disregard what I said about you starting a new thread.

You'll have to forgive me; in the last two weeks, I've probably uploaded upwards of 600mb of data to this site. Things are blurring a bit. lol

Anyway, I'll take your zip, fuse it to my version, then post an updated installer.

Edit: Done. Also, if you want to know how to make installers, look here, and read the section on Installers. One piece of advice, something you didn't do in the game file is update the version to the current date. Anytime you edit, you should do this. Why? Because when an installer tries to run, it will fail if the program thinks it already has the version in the installer. I updated the version before posting in the installer.

You're forgiven! :P

Thanks a lot Pich. I'll try to remember the installer stuff. And thanks again for the 600mb of stuff you've been doing. It's stellar.

I've made an update to this template for 0.3.7. The big thing I've added is a rudimentary booster pack generator.

I seem to be having a problem installing this. The installer will not let me install the game files (the first 2 on the list). It lets me install the font/symbols. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yeah, if an installer fails at anytime, change the ".mse-installer" extension to ".zip", extract, and put the contents of the zip in your data folder. Except for the "installer" file you find inside. Don't put that in your data folder.

Edit: Or, alternatively, you should be able to use the new installer I just put up. I tested it on a fresh install of MSE 0.3.7b, and it installed all packages.
