Custom Made Watermarks

Postby Pichoro on Thu Oct 19, 2006 9:07 am

I think it would be a fine idea to make a thread for sharing custom made watermarks. I'll post the two in my possession here.

Edit: Instruction for adding watermarks can be found here, in the third post down, by me: http://magicseteditor.sourceforge.net/node/909

Well you asked for it...

Postby MysticHobo on Sat Feb 10, 2007 3:59 am

You asked, I deliver. A plethora "watermarks" for your customization pleasure. We have 2 zip files below with a total of 47 images all ready for you to add to your own projects.

The first contains watermarks for all of the expansions between ON and PC. It also includes Arabian Nights, Unhinged, Coldsnap, and Antiquities.Image

The second file is filled with various symbols from Greek, Norse, and Celtic religions as well as a large variety of Celtic Knots and symbols from other religions.

If anyone has any specific requests for watermarks leave me a PM here or at the official forums. I check both at the very least every other; but most often everyday. Please note that while I do entertain request there is no guarantee that I will have the time or inclination to help you out (though I do like to help other people so it never hurts to ask, right? :) )

Trouble Installing Watermarks

Postby GFCmndr13 on Tue Mar 06, 2007 5:02 pm

Hey there.

I can't get the Celtic/Magic watermarks to install.

I have the custommagic templates off this site (by the way, very nice!). I have followed the other watermarks as closely as I can in typing these to match closely. I have made sure that they are in the watermarks folder, that in the "watermarks" document the file is titled the same as it is in the folder, and that the area in the "game" document (e.g. name: Watermarks) and the name of the selection (e.g. choice:5dn [a.k.a. the Fifth Dawn watermark] are all labeled the same in all documents.

When I try and open MSE, and click New Set, a message pops up saying the following:

(Example: Name=Watermarks, Selection=Fifth Dawn)
Unexpected key: '[name] [selection]'
On line: [line it is on in the "watermarks" document (I assume)]
If file: custommagic-watermarks.mse-include/watermarks

The first part I have no idea.
The second part (I am pretty sure) says where it is.
The third (I am positive) is the location of the "watermarks" document.

If anyone knows how to help me correct this bug, it would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks so much,
ANDY :P

 This is interesting. I seem to be able to duplicate the problem to an extent. The error message pops up once but clicking ok and opening a new set works fine; and the watermark is still usable. This is odd.
I haven't gotten an error yet with the normal magic templates; so this seems to be a problem related only to the custom magic template. I'm not sure why but it probably has to do with the number of people all working on it at the same time and changing things and changing them back for months at a time; but I think the current one is almost all pichoros work and shouldn't have this kind of problem.

If it doesn't work at all for you you might want to check and make sure that all of your variables are name EXACTLY the same. MSE is case sensitive.

I haven't attempted to recreate this error as of yet, due to a lack of opportunity to do so; but would you consider posting the relevant files? If you would please post your game file and watermarks file, I could take a few moments to look at them and see if the error is readily apparent to me, as it sometimes is. If it is not, I'll have to investigate further. You sound like you followed the instructions correctly, but I'm not 100% sure. We'll see.

I'm fairly sure he must have because I know what I'm doing with the watermark files and I was able to replicate the error; but like I said only for the custommagic template (FPM only, no modifications). It seems to be in the tokens template since it is the only one that doesn't show a watermark when I checked it out in the program.
I'm not going to mess around with the custommagic template though, its your baby pichoro. I can only help provide support for unmodified standard magic templates. And since normal magic templates have no errors, I can't really help much beyond verifying that yes and error does occur and no I don't know why.

Post the Files

Postby GFCmndr13 on Wed Mar 07, 2007 1:22 pm

I would, but the forum keeps saying that the file extension is not excepted. So, I tryed copying the information from notepad (which I use to open the files) to another notepad and save it as a .txt file. That doesn't work either. What program should I be using to attach the files?

Also, I can too click through all of the Magic Style/Celtic Style Ok's, but that is almost 50 clicks, and I end up having to do it 3 or 4 times for each watermark... it goes through the list, and goes back again, so......

Furthermore, I have double and triple checked the naming, and they are EXACTLY the same, keeping case sensitivity in mind.

Hope you can help out!

Andy

Put the file you are trying to upload into a zip file.

what i did was just edit the mse code to have the watermarks, thats probly your best bet...

Here is what i did:

In the mse game file, edit the text under the text box field, go to the bottom of it and you should see the avaliable watermarks. At the bottom of the list, add the following:
choice:
_______name: ?1?
___________choice: ?2?
___________choice: ?2?

(replace the ?1? with a name you want for the watermarks catagory, and ?2? with a name for the watermark you want.)

Then go to the mse water mark folder, this is were you should put the watermark img, and open the watermark file. At the bottom of the page, add the following:
?1? ?2?:____________________/extendedmagic-watermarks.mse-include/?3?.png
?1? ?2?:____________________/extendedmagic-watermarks.mse-include/?3?.png
?1? ?2?:____________________/extendedmagic-watermarks.mse-include/?3?.png
?1? ?2?:____________________/extendedmagic-watermarks.mse-include/?3?.png

(replace the ?3? with the location of the picture you want for the watermark.)

I checked over your files and when i looked everything in the game file was fine, but in the watermark file, you added all the shadow stuff, take that out and put just the location like i showed. That works just fine, no errors for me at least.
Darkness lies in all mens' hearts.

Actually the problem is cropping up in custommagic not extendedmagic; and there is nothing wrong with the shadow scripting stuff as long as you type everything correctly, which we are doing I can assure you.

Extended Magic

Postby GFCmndr13 on Thu Mar 08, 2007 4:59 am

Yes, sorry, green_man_2000, I agree with MysticHobo--I am using custommagic, not extended... I don't know if I even have extended magic... I've got normal magic, VS System, Yu-Gi-Oh! (Which all came w/ the download), and then I installed the 5 cards by pichoro (split, flip, normal, promo and token).

I am going to try and renter the data after skool (dang I hate 8th grade...) so I'll post back once I get it done...

Andy (P.S. Thanks for all the support!) :P

Well, I've got a half hour free, so I'm going to look at your files now.

You posted them as a .rar; I have nothing that can open a rar. Could you repost them, just the custommagic game and watermark files in a zip?

Also, some information about the FPM templates; in all actuality, most of the work of actually building the original templates was artfreakwiu's doing. He built the style files, putting all the right numbers in the right places to set the fields. He also has made the vast majority of the images; the exception to this is that RoaTheEternal made most of the beveled mana symbols and I did the cropping for the split cards. BunnieRein is solely responsible for making the vertical mana cost happen, and has various bits of code scattered throughout the game and style files. The flip cards are entirely artfreakwiu's doing. All I really did was take the templates, clean them up, and build in a bunch of features. And I guess I'm sort of the custodian of them now.
